Nairobi County To Dispose 236 Unclaimed Bodies

The Nairobi City County will dispose 236 unclaimed dead bodies that are laying in morgues within the city.  In a notice, the County said 218 unclaimed bodies are lying at the Nairobi City Mortuary and 18 others are at the Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary.  Members of the public have been urged to identify and collect the bodies, failure to which they will be disposed after 7 days of the notice.  “Pursuant to the Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary; PUBLIC HEALTH (PUBLIC MORTUARIES) RULES, 1991] (2). Police in Mombasa have detained 40 Jordanian tourists after they were spotted begging on the city's streets. The tourists were reportedly seen begging on the streets of Old Town and Marikiti Market on Thursday in order to raise funds for their trip to Nairobi. Mr Maxwell Agoro, the Mvita Sub-county Police Commander, confirmed the arrest, saying the police went to arrest the tourists after receiving a tip from locals. Police in Homa Bay on Wednesday night arrested five suspects who were planning to disrupt the ongoing tallying process in Homa Bay town and Kabondo Kasipul constituencies. The suspect was taken to Mogogosiek Police Station in Konoin and is set to be arraigned over the heinous acts at Mosoriot Academy. EACC Seizes Assets Worth Ksh.100 Million Belonging To Gov’t Officer Earning Ksh.100

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has seized assets worth Ksh.100 million belonging to an officer of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA), Kajiado County Office. The officer, Esther Wanjiru Chege, is believed to have fraudulently acquired the assets including millions of shillings and 13 parcels of land scattered in various towns including: Kiambu, Nyandarua, Naivasha, Makueni and Kajiado. In a report issued on Friday, EACC said Wanjiru is under investigation “for alleged conflict of interest, embezzlement of public funds and unexplained wealth.” The anti-graft body seized the 13 title deeds after the assets were frozen by the High Court in Machakos on July 19, 2022.
