Cops kill five armed robbers in shootout in Nyali.

Police have gunned down five suspected criminals in Nyali, Mombasa county. In a report police said they raided a house in Mbungoni where the five were hiding. The suspects were fatally shot as they enganged the police officers. Police recovered an AK 47 rifle,33 bullets,panga,two knives,seven mobile phones and a wallet. A motorcycle registration No.KMEJ 275W believed to have been used to ferry the criminals was also recovered. The bodies were moved to coast general mortuary. The incident comes after months of peace in Kisauni and Nyali were criminal gangs have terrorized residents for years.

Uhuru orders lockdown in 5 Counties.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared a cessation of movement in five counties, this include Nairobi, Kajiado,Machakos,Kiambu and Nakuru counties. The counties were put under cessation of movement for the next 30 days. Uhuru said kenya’s covid positivity rate has jumped tenfold from 2.6% in January to 22% in March. This means that if you test positive 100 people,20 will test positive worse in Nairobi where six out of ten test positive. Uhuru said the third wave is expected to peak in the next 30 days. The Kenya private sector Alliance had asked uhuru Kenyatta to impose strict measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

Governor Nyong’o suspends county Askaris captured dragging a woman.

Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has suspended 12 county enforcement officers who were captured on camera dragging a woman on tarmac road. In a statement the governor regretted the actions of the county askaris which he termed as saddening and shocking. Beatrice Magolo had been arrested on Wednesday by county askaris and after the incident treated at the Kisumu County Hospital. The incident attracted fury from members of the public on social media, calling on the governor to take responsibility for the actions of the county askaris. Gunman kills 10 in the US state of Colorado.

A gunman has killed 10 people including a police officer off at a grocery market in the US state of Colorado. The attack in Boulder ended with police detaining an injured suspect at the King soopers market. The shooting was live streamed by the witnesses and broadcast on YouTube. Among the dead was 51-year-old Eric Talley who was the first police officer to respond to the shooting. No other details have been released about the nine other victims or motive for the attack. The grocery store is located in a busy shopping plaza in Boulder a northern central Colorado city about 30 miles away from the state capital of Denver. The supermarket attack comes less than a month a week after a mass shooting that left eight dead including Six Asian women at three spas in Atlanta.

Prime Suspect in Velvine Nungari’s suspected murder held 10 more days.

The prime suspect in thesuspected murder of a waitress based in Kahawa west will remain in police custody for more 10 days as the investigation continues. Joseph Kinyua murimi 33 is the main suspectin the death of 23 yaer old Velvine Nungari Kinyanjui who was an employee at the Ruiru destiny park. Mr.Kinyanjui was arrested by Kiamumbi police shortly after a February 23 incident in which it is believed Ms Nungari was sexually arrested and left for dead. DPP orders speedy probe into state witness Wambua’s death.

The DPP has orderd the IG of police to conduct speedy investigations into the death of National Land Commission deputy director of communications, Jeniffer Wambua. The body of Wambua was found earlier this week at the city Mortuary. The body had been collected from Ngong area on Saturday. Former NTV anchor Winnie Mukami dies of Covid -19 complications.

Former NTV news anchor Winnie Mukami is dead. The former news anchor also served as a board member at Kenya pipeline. Mukami died as a result of Covid-19 complications on Thursday. In 2010 Mukami left NTV after seven years at Aga khan-owned media house. Mukami became known in 2003 anchored NTV news during its launch. Her demise comes two days after Royal Media Services journalist Robin Njogu also succumbed to the disease

Couple sues Hospital after babies held over Sh.4 Million Bill.

A couple has moved to court seeking to sue Nairobi South Hospital to release two of their new born babies who have been detained. Charles Ndonye and his wife Virginia Olembo who were blessed with quadruplets claim that the hospital has detained two of their infants. Olembo gave birth on February 1 and was discharged on 26th with two babies and not four. According to court documents the hospital told them they would not discharge the babies because they were still receiving medication but later said they would not release them due to the bill. They argue that the decision to hold on to the minors is illegal and unlawful which infringes on their rights. Germany, Italy, France suspend AstraZeneca shots.

Germany, France and Italy said on Monday they would suspend AstraZeneca COVID-19 shots after several countries reported possible serious side-effects, but the World Health Organization (WHO) said there was no proven link and people should not panic. Still, the decision by the European Union’s three biggest countries to put inoculations with the AstraZeneca shot on hold threw the already struggling vaccination campaign in the 27-nation EU into disarray.
