Mother, daughter arrested with sniper rifles in Dagoretti.

Police have arrested  a cache of arms and bullets from two women in Dagoretti, Nairobi. The weapons, which included an M4 sniper rifle with an effective range of 500 meters, four pistols, close quarter Uzi automatic submachine gun capable of firing 600 rounds per a minute and 3,700 bullets of different caliber were seized on Wednesday afternoon in an operation. Police said they arrested two women- Joyce Muthoni Mwihia and her mother Goretti Mwihia -who hold dual US citizenship and live in Racecourse, Dagoretti Corner, Nairobi. KCPE results to be released today

Education CS George Magoha is set to announce Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results today. The KCPE exams were delayed as a result of Covid-19 pandemic.  Magoha is set to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House for handover of KCPE 2020 results report ahead of the official announcement. The 2020 KCPE exam started on March 22 and ended on March 24, with rehearsals having been done on March 19. Some 1,181,725 candidates sat the exam, marking an increase from 1,083,456 learners who sat the 2019 exam. Among 3,500 girls in primary school who were found to be pregnant, more than 200 candidates sat for the exam. Former U.S. President Barack Obama’s stepmother Kezia Obama dies

Kezia Aoko Obama, the stepmother of former U.S. President Barack Obama and the mother of his half-siblings Auma Obama and Malik Obama, has died. Taking to social media to break the news, Auma Obama said her mother passed on Tuesday. She was the first wife of former President Obama’s father, Obama Senior. The second was the ex-Head of State’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. Her death comes a few weeks following that of the family matriarch, Mama Sarah Obama who died at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu on March 29, 2021 at 99 years. Mama Sarah was laid at her home in Kogelo, Siaya County, on March 30, 2021.

Beatrice Makhoka, the Bungoma woman who has lived with a 3kg facial growth for 21 years could soon resume normal life. This is after a team of doctors at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital successfully removed the growth that blocked her face, including her nose, and interfered with her breathing. She has lived with the heavy growth for 21 year and was almost giving up her struggle to live.  The medics removed the growth during a daylong surgery at the Eldoret-based hospital, where she is now recuperating in the Neuroward. “Beatrice underwent the surgery which was successful. Muslims begin Holy month.

Muslim faithful have began marking the Holy month of Ramadhan. The moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Monday night, April 12. Jamia Mosque Nairobi said through its Twitter handle that fasting begins on Tuesday, following the moon sighting. “Ramadan has been announced in Saudi Arabia and many countries,” said famous teacher and cleric Mufti Menk of Zimbabwe Ramadhan is a Holy month of fasting, devotion and prayer. CS Magoha says School calendar will not change.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has said the school calendar will not be changed. He said that the timetable remains as it had been decided earlier in the year and learners will return to school as planned.  Magoha spoke on Monday in Kiambu town while inspecting the opening of the exams. Defiant school boys arrested for sneaking into girls dormitory.

The police are holding 10 students who sneaked from their school to a girls dormitory in Nakuru on Thursday night. The KCSE candidates from Anestar Bahati Boys sneaked into Anestar Precious Girls secondary school. DCI director George Kinoti said the boys sneaked from their school in numbers and gained access to the girls when they were asleep. After a few minutes, the girls raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the 10. Kinoti said an officer had to fire in the air to scare away the defiant boys. They are at Dundori Patrol Base, pending further interrogation.

Kamukunji politician Ibrahim Ahmed ‘Johnny’ dies.

Former Kamukunji MP aspirant Ibrahim Ahmed Yusuf, popularly known as Johnny, is dead.  Ahmed died in Nairobi on Friday morning.  Johnny, as he was fondly referred to, died on Friday morning after a short illness, according to his family. He passed on at the Coptic Hospital where he was rushed for emergency treatment. There was no immediate confirmation on the cause, but his family and friends said he had a kidney condition. Jamia Mosque officials said Ahmed will be buried at 12pm on Friday at the Langata Cemetery.
