Detectives and the homicide unit of the police have launched investigations into the disappearance of a Somali-American businessman. Five police officers injured in Mandera.

At least five police officers were on Friday injured when they were ambushed by al Shabaab militants in Banisa, Mandera county. Witnesses said the attackers had set an Improvised Explosive Devise on the road which hit a speeding police vehicle. This caused the vehicle to be badly damaged and burnt. The vehicle was carrying at least 15 police officers moving from Banisa towards Mandera. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says it has nailed the killer of National Land Commission (NLC) official Jennifer Wambua. DCI said forensic analysis has placed the prime suspect in the murder case Peter Mwangi Njenga alias Ole Sankale at the scene of the crime. Two Kenyan boats on a fishing expedition in Lake Victoria were impounded by Tanzania security officers who also arrested six fishermen. Kibro Beach Management Unit chairman Joel Maulidi said the arrested fishermen and boats were taken to Sota beach in Northern Mara district. “We sent representatives from our side to seek the release of the two and they were told they have to pay Sh50,000 for each boat to be released which is a total of Sh100,000,” Maulidi said. The tusk is suspected to be one of the two extracted from an elephant which was killed at Losoito in Tsavo West National Park, close to a month ago.
