Hilton hotel to shut down after 53 years operation

Iconic city hotel, The Hilton, will close its doors indefinitely in December after operating for over five decades in the heart of Kenya's Central Business District. As a result, it will lay off an unspecified number of workers, underlining the troubles of hotels in the wake of the Covid-19 travel slump and other factors beyond the pandemic. Lobby group has asked the court to compel Safaricom to delete all the subscribers’ photos taken during the current Sim card registration. Katiba Institute and LSK have moved to court challenging the decision by Safaricom to obtain photos or biometric data as a requirement for Sim registration. They termed the move illegal. The government is expected to pay a further Ksh.14 billion to oil marketing companies (OMCs) to cover arrears from the fuel subsidy.
