Kenya Power unveils customer self-service portal.

Kenya Power has launched a self-service portal to enable customers to conveniently apply for electricity connections from the comfort of their locations.  Customers can use Kenya Power’s mobile phone App ‘My Power’ to apply for electricity or visit the self-service portal using a computer or a mobile phone. In a statement, Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO Bernard Ngugi said that when making their applications, customers will be required to submit land/property ownership documents, ID cards and PIN certificates through the portal. A Murray Girls Form One student was killed in a terrible road accident in Tsavo on Monday evening. The student was in the company of several others who were travelling back to school after their mid-term break aboard a 14-seater matatu. Taveta Police Commander Charles Baraza confirmed the incident, saying that the accident occurred when the matatu driver swerved sharply to avoid hitting an elephant. In the moments that followed, the matatu lost control and rolled off the Taveta-Voi road before coming to a stop on the opposite side. Detectives and the homicide unit of the police have launched investigations into the disappearance of a Somali-American businessman. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Gabow made the disclosure to the National Assembly Security Committee in response to a petition by the family of Mr Bashir Mohammed. “Mr Gabow says the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is investigating the matter as missing person case and arson since a car was burnt and they are yet to establish if he is dead,” a member of the committee told the Nation after a closed-door session. “The DCI has been to Mialle, where he was last seen.” Mr Mohammed disappeared eight days ago. Kenya gets 130,000 jabs of AstraZeneca from DRC.

Kenya has received 130,000 more doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccines, which arrived in Nairobi on Thursday morning, came from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has said it is unable to administer about 1.3 million doses before expiry on June 24. The DRC received 1.7 million doses through Covax on March 2 but has only administered a paltry 400,000 over fears the vaccine could lead to rare blood clotting Unicef redistributed the remaining doses to several countries including Kenya, Central African Republic, Ghana, Senegal and Togo. The Nairobi Metropolitan Service conducts  Green Park Terminus test run for matatus plying Ngong Road. The NMS Director for Roads Engineer Michale Ochieng on site to supervise the test run at the terminus from as early as 6 am. Police officers were positioned along the Bunyala road roundabout where all PSV were diverted into the terminus. Only private cars were permitted to use Uhuru Highway to join Haile Sellasie Avenue. Inside the terminus, matatus were only allowed to drop off commuters as they exited.
