New developments have emerged in the ongoing investigations into the death of Nominated MP David Sankok’s son after Kericho High School’s principal revealed that he had refused to return to school before the incident.
The MP’s son, 15, reportedly shot himself using his father’s pistol on Monday afternoon after taking it from a safe in his father’s bathroom. He was a Form Four student.
He was expected to report to school last week but was not keen on going which is said to have sparked an argument with his father.
Narok County DCI boss Mwenda Ethiaba said the teenager’s death was preceded by an argument about his school.
Sankok had called Kericho High School principal Daniel Chelule, confirming that his son did not want to return to school and requesting a week to resolve the situation.
“After the student failed to report to the school on Tuesday last week, his father called on Wednesday to inform us his son wasn’t keen on reporting back to the school,” Chelule told the Standard.
“He requested a week to resolve the issue. Its unfortunate that the matter would end on a sad note.”
Meanwhile, the Directorate and Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Narok on Tuesday recorded statements of the legislator’s wife, daughter, and workers.
The pistol used by the legislator’s son has since been seized for ballistic analysis.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to Narok County Referral Hospital.
