Four suspects were arrested on Wednesday in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu following a spate of abductions of travellers on the Thika Superhighway.

Their arrest follows the recent abduction of three victims along the busy Superhighway, who were robbed of cash and other valuables before being dumped in Kabati, Murang’a county.

The four, in a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, were arrested while luring another victim following an operation by Ruiru-based officers.

An identification parade was then conducted after the arrest to confirm the identity of the suspects who were detained in police custody after positive identification.

“They are currently being processed to answer to charges of Robbery With Violence contrary to Section 296 (2) of the Penal Code,” said DCI.

Meanwhile, the DCI has cautioned car hire agents to be wary of persons hiring their vehicles to prevent them from becoming accessories to such crimes.
