Gor Mahia Appoint German Andreas As New Coach, Nam As Deputy

Gor Mahia have appointed German Andreas Spier as the new head coach replacing fired Mark Harrison.

The new developments come days after the club announced that Ugandan Paul Nkata would take charge on interim basis but have instead opted to hire the German tactician who at one time served as FKF’s Technical Director – doing much of his work then with the junior national teams.

The club’s chairman Ambrose confirmed the new appointment saying the the coach has been hired on a ‘six-month probation’ with a window of extension depending on performance.

“We have appointed coach Andreas Spier from Germany as our new head coach. He will be assisted by Michael Nam and the two are on a six-month interim basis with an option of signing a longer contract depending on performance,” Rachier told Citizen Digital.Nam tak up Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s place.

Spier has previously been attached to German side Eintra Frankfurt.

Speir is known in the region for having led Rwandese giants APR to the Rwandan League and Cup Double in 2013-2014.He holds a UEFA Pro Licence and worked as Technical Director at Football Associations Rwanda as well.

Michael Nam comes with a wealth of experience in the local league having worked with teams such as Homegrown FC, Agro-Chemicals and Talanta. He also led Vipers FC to a second place finish in the Ugandan League before joining South Sudanese side Altabara whom he helped win the South Sudan Cup in 2021.

The two will be tasked with reviving the club’s title challenge after the dismissal of the previous technical bench led by Mark Harrison and Sammy Omollo.
