Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera is set to arrive in Kenya on Tuesday, for a three-day State visit.

In a statement, State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena Mararo, said Chakwera, who will be accompanied by First Lady Monica, will be the chief guest at this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The fete will be held at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga county on Wednesday.

Chakwera and his delegation will be officially received at State House, Nairobi by President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Thursday.

Mashujaa Day, also known as Heroes’ Day, is observed on October 20 as a public holiday to collectively honour all those who contributed towards the struggle for Kenya’s independence or positively contributed in post independence Kenya.

Last week, the Kenya National Highways Authority issued a traffic advisory ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations.

In a public notice published on Friday, Kenha gave an advisory on which roads will be used by attendees as well as issued a caution for traffic congestion on selected roads.

“Members of the public attending the celebrations will access the venue via the Kenol-Sagana- Marua road which is currently under construction,” Kenha Director General Kung’u Ndungu said.

Ndungu noted that the Authority has put in place measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

The measures according to Ndungu include setting up of a construction corridor which will aid in ensuring two-lane movement.
