Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has met with a woman identified as Mary Njoki who went viral several days ago after she revealed that she had tattooed his (Sonko) face on her thigh.
Njoki, a single mother from Murang’a, took to the internet to appeal for help from the flamboyant politician, explicitly unveiling the intricate tattoo she had printed on her thigh.
“Hi Mike Sonko. Habari yako? I’m Mary Njoki from Murang’a. Mimi ndio nilichora tattoo, na ndio hii hapa kwa mguu. Napitia shida mingi sana, naomba tu unisaidie…”Niko na watoto wanafaa kukula. Sina watu wetu. Naomba tu unipee hata kama ni kazi…” she said appealed.
Mary went on to praise Sonko, adding that her decision to have a tattoo of his portrait was informed by the politician’s benevolence extended to people he barely knew.
Not too long after her impassioned plea, Sonko invited the lady to his Nairobi offices where the duo sat around a table at one of his gilded offices, as he carefully interrogated her, promising to set up a boutique business for her.
Sonko first sought to know her background – name, where she came from, her education background, her family situation and what sort of help she was looking to get.
After revealing that she was an unemployed single mother of two from Murang’a town, Njoki also shared that she didn’t go too far in school – she dropped off at Class 8.
Sonko then said that he was willing to help her set up a clothing shop in Murang’a town, adding that he would not give her any cash, as that was against his charitable rule
“Identify duka na uongee na Governor wa huko ni rafiki yangu. Ata Sabina Chege, they’re all my friends. Identify duka tukulipie first six months alafu tuone stock ni wapi tutanunua. Hatutakupatia cash. Siwezi kukupea cash,” he told her.
As the conversation progressed, Sonko sought to know more about Njoki’s children.
The former county boss then called a ‘Francis’ who he instructed to ensure that Njoki’s needs are met while also promising to inject Ksh. 100,000 into her new business.
