Police in Kisii are in custody of an illegal consignment of bhang valued at over Ksh.11 million after intercepting its transportation on Sunday.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the consignment was being ferried to Kilgoris, Narok County in a white Toyota Prado when officers on patrol noticed that the car was loaded with suspicious goods.
“The officers signaled the driver of the vehicle to stop but he defied the orders and sped off at breakneck speed and upon reaching Magena area, he made a quick U-turn back towards Kanyenye,” read part of a statement from DCI.
The driver is then said to have abandoned the vehicle within Metembe area and escaped on foot.
Six sacks and fifteen bales of leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa all weighing 379Kgs were recovered from the car which was later taken to Kenyeye Police Station pending further investigations.
