A well-known British crocodile expert and academic has pleaded guilty to bestiality charges involving the rape, torture, and killing of dogs.

According to Australian media, Adam Britton tortured and exploited more than 42 dogs until his arrest in April 2022.

An Australian court was shocked after hearing the accounts of Northern Territory British crocodile expert Adam Robert Corden Britton, 51, who admitted to animal cruelty against dogs as well as possessing child-abuse material.

After filming himself in the heinous acts, the Charles Darwin University professor would post the footage on online forums under aliases.

Chief Justice Michael Grant said the crime, which resulted in the deaths of 39 dogs, “could only be described as grotesque cruelty” and urged members of the public, security personnel, and reporters to leave the court before prosecutor Marty Aust read out the detailed charges.

“These facts contain material that can only be described as grotesque and perverse acts of cruelty which is confronting and distressing and which in my assessment have the potential to cause nervous shock,” said prosecutor Marty Aust, as reported by the Guardian.

Adam, who began the heinous behavior in 2014, tortured and sexually exploited over 42 dogs before being apprehended in April 2022.

The court heard Britton had a “sadistic sexual interest” in animals, particularly dogs.

As well as torturing his own dogs, he also sourced animals from unsuspecting pet owners in the Darwin region.

“He often built a rapport with the dog owners in negotiating taking custody of their animals, many of whom had to reluctantly give their pets away due to travel or work commitments,” Mr Aust told the court.

Britton is said to have texted the dog’s owners to reassure them that the animal was “settling in well.”

According to the BBC, the former academic who once hosted legendary broadcaster and biologist David Attenborough has remained in custody and will return to court for a sentence hearing in December.
