Azimio la Umoja supporters took to the streets on Thursday for the third round of protests against the government.

Early Thursday, police officers in full riot gear were seen patrolling Mathare and Kibra in Nairobi, as well as the lakeside city of Kisumu.

Despite a ban on protests and a warning from police that they would do anything to prevent any kind of gathering, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has vowed that the protests will continue.

third day of Azimio la Umoja’s mass demonstrations kicked off on Thursday, March 30, as the opposition side sought to petition the Kenya Kwanza administration over the high cost of living affecting Kenyan citizens.

Under instructions by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, the heavy security detail was deployed at strategic points along the Central Business District (CBD) as well as areas where demonstrations occurred the previous week.

President William Ruto jets back to the country from his working trip to Europe. He was received by his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, the Chief of Defence Forces, Service Commanders and Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome.

Azimio had indicated that they would present their petition to the president at State House.
