Eight people died while 21 others sustained serious injuries following a road accident involving a trailer and two matatus at Ngata Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Tuesday.
Police reports indicate that the trailer heading to Nakuru from Eldoret lost control and rammed into the two public service vehicles that were headed towards the Eldoret route.
The accident subsequently caused a heavy traffic snarl-up along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Nakuru Level 5 Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr.Aisha Maina confirmed that 21 people have been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Eyewitnesses have blamed the incident on a stretch of dilapidated road near Ngata Bridge which has now become an accident black spot.
