Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to reward Ivy Chelimo, the lady who coined his stylish nickname ‘Riggy G’.

In an interview with Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura, Gachagua said he had instructed his sons to track down Chelimo for a special dinner with his family.

Gachagua described the moniker as melodious in the ear, adding it had made life easier for people who would experience difficulties pronouncing his mouthful name.

The young lady who decided that Rigathi Gachagua is a little bit difficult and not melodious, we need to give him the name Riggy G,” Gachagua said.

“To encourage our young people, I took up the name in strides. I have told my sons to look for that girl to come we have dinner,” he added.

He also hinted at transforming Chelimo’s fortunes through financial support.

“I want to encourage that young girl, I will see what I can do for her so that I can see, from my salary, if I can boost her a little bit to be able to do something,” he explained.

Gachagua said the Kenya Kwanza administration would continue rewarding talent as part of a grand plan to create more employment opportunities for the jobless youths.

“Our young people are phenomenal, talented and creative, nobody has ever given them a chance,” Gachagua said.

“The William Ruto-led administration is saying that this is the day that we can allow our talented young people to convert that talent into a source of income,” he added.
