Top Kenyan gospel star turned politician Roy Smith Mwatia alias Rufftone says he has shelved his Nairobi Senator ambitions in favour of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Rufftone told Citizen Digital that the decision was arrived at after the Kenya Kwanza coalition held consultative talks and he decided to heed the advise of party leader William Ruto.

The ‘Mungu Baba’ hit maker maintained that he would still support the UDA Party and the Kenya Kwanza coalition in the run-up to the August elections.

He lauded the coalition’s principals, William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, for their exemplary leadership, expressing confidence that they will clinch the country’s top seat in the General Election.

“Rigathi has the tenacity, the vigour, consistency and is a very straight forward person and having Dr. Ruto on the other hand as someone who cares for the normal mwananchi and is an honest leader, they complement each other and clearly that is the winning team,” he said.

Bishop Wanjiru will now run for the seat under a UDA ticket contesting against ODM’s Edwin Sifuna.
