Five people were on Monday morning killed after a speeding PSV Matatu hit a stationary lorry at Nyabioto in Manga Sub-County, Nyamira County.
According to Nyamira County Commissioner Michael Lesmam, the driver of the Kisii-Nakuru bound matatu lost control of the car and hit the lorry.
Three other passengers who were critically injured were rushed to Nyamira referral hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the facility morgue.
The County Commissioner has called upon drivers to be careful on the road to help curb the rising number of accidents.
Investigations have commenced to establish the exact cause of the accident.
