Security has been beefed up in Nairobi ahead of Deputy president William Ruto’s tour.

Ruto is expected to tour Roysambu area on Friday. He will be at Marurui via Kiambu Road at 9am.

From there he is expected in Kahawa West Roundabout at about 10am and Soko ya Mawe, Githurai 44 at 11am.

Ruto will visit Zimmerman, Kamiti Road at noon before going to TRM, Roysambu Roundabout, Santon, Mwiki, Njiru shopping centre and Njiru/Ruai junction.

Police has said there will be traffic jams on the roads occasioned by the rallies.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the routes for the better part of the morning to avoid the expected traffic jam.

More personnel have been deployed there to manage the situation.

This will be the second such tour in the city to campaign for his UDA party.

Ruto will be in a whirlwind tour of Nairobi on Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Unlike other presidential hopefuls, Ruto’s campaign is weaved around hefty donations running into millions of shillings dubbed empowerment programme to youth and women groups, churches and schools.

Ruto’s penchant for donations has been the subject of heated debates, with a number of leaders questioning the source of the millions he has been using to bankroll church activities all over the country.

The DP has, however, remained unapologetic and has continued donating bundles of well-arranged crisp notes, hitting at his critics as anti-poor.

On Wednesday, Ruto embarked on a series of campaign rallies in Nairobi.
