The Kenya Power Board of Directors has appointed Rosemary Oduor acting Managing Director and CEO.
In a statement on Wednesday, Board Chairperson Vivienne Yeda said her appointment followed the resignation of Bernard Ngugi.
“We wish to inform our shareholders that the Board of directors, exercising their powers given under Article 113 of the Articles of Association of The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Plc, have appointed Eng. Rosemary Oduor as the Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company with effect from 4th August 2021,” the statement said.
Prior to her appointment, Oduor who has worked with Kenya Power since 1991 was the company’s General Manager in charge of Commercial Services and Sales.
She also has experience in power engineering and management.
Bernard Ngugi’s resignation as Kenya Power CEO comes after being in charge for 21 months.

The task force is operational for a period of six months with effect from March 29, 2021.
The task force will undertake a comprehensive review and analysis of the terms of all Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) entered into by the Kenya Power and probe the compliance of the PPAs and all associated agreements with government policies.
It will review the sustainability and viability of all independent power generation projects that have been proposed, are under implementation or are in operation, and make appropriate recommendations.
The team will also review the allocation of risk between the independent power producers and KPLC under the PPAs, and make appropriate recommendations.
The task force is chaired by John Ngumi while Jasper Mbiuki, Lillian Abishai, and Elsie Mworia are joint secretaries.
Other members of the task force are Kennedy Ogeto, Aaron Ringera, James Mcfie, Mohammed Nyaoga, Elizabeth Muli, Stanley Kamau, Wanjiku Wakogi, Isaac Kiva, Caroline Kittony, Elizabeth Rogo, Sachin Gudka, James Mwangi, John Mutua, Anne Eriksson, and Yida Kemoli.
