Detectives from the Directorate of the Criminal Investigations (DCI) have today arrested six more suspects linked to robberies of motorists and pedestrians along the Southern Bypass, Nairobi.

The suspects nabbed include; Messi Martha Mutioka, Tevin Njuguna, Edward Baraza Shikoba, Lawrence Gitahi Ndirangu, Kenneth Maina Chege and David Lugali Asianja.

All were aged between 21 and 32 years old.

The Langata based detectives, in collaboration with sleuths attached to the Crime Research  and Intelligence Bureau, used cyber and forensic analysis to track the suspects.

Following the arrest, detectives recovered 112 assorted mobile phones suspected to have been stolen. A victim previously robbed by the gang has reportedly identified her phone.

Other victims have been urged to visit Langata Police Station to identify their phones.

The detectives have so far managed to arrest 15 suspects linked to the Bypass robberies. Some three others, including a teenager, were arrested a week ago while another six were arrested last month while robbing a motorist.

The detectives say the stolen mobile phones are normally sold cheaply to various mobile shops in Lindi and Kibra.

They urged members of the public to be careful while buying such stolen phones as that could lead to them being arrested and charged.
