Kenyans have taken to their social media platforms to express frustrations and inconveniences after the telecommunication giant Safaricom’s Mpesa services stopped working. Citing how their day-to-day activities have been affected by the Mpesa disruption, many called on Safaricom to expedite the fixing of the hitch which is costing many time and money. In the complaints on Twitter, some shared how they were shopping but could not pay for the goods or services owing to the disruption of Mpesa services. One Kenyan said he was stranded in hotels because they could not pay the bill.
“Safaricom, some of us are stranded in hotels,” he said. Collins Arap BETT said: “Never been held hostage like this before. The lady at the station trusted me and asked me to pay once the service is up and send her the message. Still waiting for mpesa to be resuscitated.” Qaaliabdirahman said: “I sent an Mpesa transaction for food thrice at Freys. Mpesa delays should give notice prior. What kind of embarrassment is this?
On his part, Wanjihia lamented he had been at the petrol station for 15 minutes because of the delay.
